Paul and Lucy Kalanithi

After reading both Paul and Lucy’s articles all I can say is wow. Both of their words are just so powerful, moving, and meaning full. You can feel both of their emotions throughout the entire article. In Paul’s article, he talks a lot about time, and how he doesn’t know how much time he may have that he doesn’t really live in the future he lives in the now. He focuses on spending time with his wife and new born baby, because as he says he may not know when the last time he will see them is. That he won’t see his daughter grow up to the point where she will be able to vividly remember him. The way he talks about this is different because he is so calm and expecting of his diagnosis and in a sense, makes you feel okay as well. While in Lucy’s article she talks about the sense of excepting that she knows her husband is gone and is never coming back. You can feel the way she feels while reading the article. She talks about going to his grave and siting with friends having a beer just enjoying everybody’s presences including her husband’s even though he’s truly not there. She brings her daughter there and plays with her and has him around still. You can tell the love these two have and or had for each other was something that could never be broken and that’s truly amazing. You can feel the passion for what they do, and the joy they have for life. I have a new look for things in life after these two articles. Truly you don’t know the future so why not focus on the now and enjoy what you have while you don’t know what the future could be or when it may even happen.
